Kitchen Garden
Crown Street Public School’s well-established Kitchen Garden program is run year-round by an amazing team of volunteer parents. Each week a different class has their turn at growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing delicious food. Students learn about the environment, sustainability, nutrition, and developing positive food habits. They help maintain the organic gardens, and cook in the schools’ own kitchen classroom, discovering new flavours and ingredients. It’s a fun, hands-on experience where students gain important life-skills in gardening, composting, cooking and teamwork.
We welcome parent volunteers or local chefs to drop in and host a kitchen class. Reach out if you’d like to be involved. Working with our Kitchen Garden Leads Alex & Jill you’ll create a loved or favourite recipe using seasonal vegetables grown right inside our school and cared for by our students. It’s a rewarding and joyful experience.
